Installation is usually completed in one day, and your system is switched on the same day, so you start saving immediately! We’ve included a case study below of a PV system with 12 solar panels in Antrim.
Case Study: Killylea
This home in Killylea has three–phase power, which allows for a larger PV system within NIE requirements, compared to the more common single-phase residential properties. The customer chose to put the panels on their detached garage which has a slate roof and faces 15 degrees east of perfect south – ideal for solar.
Alongside the twenty-four 435W panels, we fitted a three-phase 10kW hybrid (battery-ready) inverter in the garage. At the time of installation, the customer wasn’t ready to make the financial commitment to a battery, but having the hybrid inverter fitted meant that this would be compatible with a battery down the line – no need for a new inverter!
The Solar Savings
Electric bill before solar: £300/month
Electric bill after solar: £143/month
ANNUAL SAVINGS: £1,912
Payback period of 4 years, 3 months.
One Year Later
About a year after the initial installation, the customer contacted us about fitting a 10kWh battery in the garage, alongside the inverter. In order to make the battery install work, we needed to get a duct put in from the garage to the NIE meter on the main home.
First Class Solar arranged for the works, and the 10kWh Soluna battery was then installed. The battery now fills up with the solar energy during the day and can be charged on the darker days and overnight on the cheaper EV tariff. This has led to even more savings, and another really happy solar panel owner in Armagh, installed by First Class Solar!
